Name:
Adam Robinson / Robbo
Age:
23
Job:
IT Analyst at BT – interesting!
Where
did you go to School and or College/Uni’: Birkenhead School
and Sheffield Uni
When did
you first take up Hockey?: When I was about 7 at primary and to be honest I don’t think I’ve
improved since then.
What positions
have you played? Anywhere at the back; however every time I’ve played up front I’ve
scored (about 4 times).
What are
you reading at the moment? Cricinfo and wikipedia are the best websites ever; apart from NSWHC.co.uk
of course!
What is
your favourite film? Too many, but Shawshank and One flew over a cuckoo’s nest would be up
there.
Philosophy
of life? Everything will work out in the end.
Best player
you have played with or against? Roy Rodgers – his
defensive technique was legendary.
Top tip,
for Hockey? Keep your eye on the ball, always tackle hard and most of all, enjoy it.
What are
you listening to, music wise at the moment? Not into all the current chart stuff as its rubbish,
so mostly Smooth FM and Radio Five Live on the way to hockey.
Best advice
given to you? In hockey – gamble, and in life, don’t gamble.
Who has
been the biggest influence on your Hockey? Took up the game because my dad played. Geoff Poole
and Nick Clark were very influential in shaping my career.
What next
for NSWHC? Well, it’s the club’s status has improved so much since I started when there
were 3 men’s teams and a Badgers team. The astro-pitch will help enhance our club even more and facilitate the return
to our former glory.
Who would
you have on your side, who is a present member of NSWHC in a full kicking scrapping fight and why? Have
to go for my dad (Lee), as he seems to be able to take a lot of punishment. Our opponent would be taking it out on “the
bionic man”, and meanwhile I could sneak around and kick him in the back – several times.
Where
do you Splash the Cash? Tesco. I hate shopping unless it is for food.
What was
the best day of your life? Close to the best: when we beat league leaders and hockey aristocrats
Bowdon last year in their own backyard to leapfrog them, injuring two of their players in the process (nothing serious).
Favourite
Food: Steak or curry.
Favourite
Drink: Red wine with food. Otherwise beer.
Your ideal
weekend? Relatively quiet friday night in. Turning up for a ill-tempered game with Oxton, who we
beat with a last minute goal. Getting back to the club to find that all of the other teams have won and going out in Liverpool to celebrate, painting the town pink. Having a lazy Sunday morning in bed with the girlfriend.
Getting up to watch Liverpool batter Man United. Then a chilled out evening including a roast
dinner and smallville. Perfect
