Match Reports 2007/08

Neston SW 3's 3-2 Triton 1's 18 November 2007

Neston started off soaking up the pressure of Triton 1s.  With a young forward line, full of vigour, Neston settled and started to assert themselves with youthfull adventure.

Rob Mathew-Jones found Harry Bush armed with an exocet missile which he let go from  an angle that embarrased the Triton keeper.  Neston extended their lead with one touch passes that saw a move start in their own half, end up with a fine finish from Chris Troake! Neston then soaked up a lot of pressure from Triton who are second in the league.  Wave after wave of short corners were dealt with by the defence and Tom Warren.  Triton pulled one back with a fast counter attack.  Neston made certain when Rob Fisher picked up a ball slipt it Chris Troake, who took the keeper out of the play with a deft pass to James Annakin who capped off a solid display with a goal.  Neston then were caught out looking to further extend their lead, when once again Triton counter attacked and scored once more.  Neston always looked comfortable winners, and this keeps them in touch with the top teams in the league.

Man of the Match: Chris Troake.

NSW 3's 4-1 Tameside 2's 6 October 2007

The team set a high tempo from the start, with numerous chance created before Mahoney started the account off.  Annakin then scored the second, before the move of the game seen Annakin complete his brace.  The team enjoyed good direct pocession, creating many chances.  Tameside then rallied to get one back, before Mahoney lobbed the keeper, Troake sent the ball goal bound, before the fresh legged Andy Ibble made sure from 2 yards (Take note Hogarth).

The team in general played well, with Mahoney and Troake guilty of missing a plethora of chances.  James Annakin was Man of the Match.

Chester 3's 2-2 Neston 3's 29 Sept 2007

T. Smith x 2

It was a frustrating game, we created many opportunities to score, but where denied by the post and good saves.  Chester went ahead, and then extended ther lead.  Troakey continued his good form and linked up well with Tom Smith.  Tom was Man of the match, and capped his peformance with two well taken goals.  We fought hard towards the end, when the game turned into a counter attacking match and the game was stretched, however it was too no avail.  We all felt like it was two points dropped, and where disappointed.

The line up was 352:

Tom Warren, P VBerkum, L Robinson, P Connolly, S Mahoney, L Kelly, P Fowler, P Burke, J Hartley, C Troake, T Smith, H Bush

Neston 3's 5-2 Wrexham 2's 22 Sept 2007

Mahoney (4)
Bush

After an indifferent start, Mahoney came off the bench and scored 4
goals in open play.  Wrexham staged a brief come back scoring two goals, before Harry Bush finished the job off when his shot slipped under the keeper, cleared off the line by the defender only to hit the keeper and rebound in.

Some fine passing in a patient build up from "the Shrimps" seen twenty or more passes strung together before winning a short corner.

Tom Warren saved a penalty flick late on to cap a good performance from this promising young Neston side.

Neston ran out comfortable winners in the end.
