First of all congratulations on a great season bringing the young 6th Team through their first season.
Yes - it's a little disappointing that the team didn't
get to second place after such a good start, but a number of guys moved up the teams after Christmas.
When did you first take up Hockey?
When I was 13 - in 1963 - it seems like yesterday!
What positions have you played?
All of them. My first game was in goal and not knowing
the rules; when the ball bobbed up; I headed it! Which is why I have a dent on my head!
What book are you reading at the moment
and what is your favourite?
Currently reading two books at the moment ( not at
the same time ) : "Restless" by William Boyd and a book about Pre Conquest England. Favourites are Moby Dick and A Passage
to India
What is your favourite film and or films?
I'am not a film buff at all, but perhaps " Fitzcarraldo"
(Werner Herzog)
Philosophy of life?
Get on with it! Have a go!
Best player you have played with or against?
Eddie Byrnes usually gets a mention in this section, doesn't
he? Maybe it will turn out to be one of last years 6's James Rigby and James Hartley: who knows?
While you are playing hockey, what does Helen
get up to?
You'd better ask her.... and let me know when you find
out!
Top tip, for Hockey?
Keep your head up when you have the ball in your possession!
Not many people know you are in a band;
The Nissens; describe their kind of music?
An eclectic mix of Beatles to Stones, through to Punk and
80's, Indie and contempory, all exquisitely played!
What are you listening to, music wise
at the moment, apart from the latest Nissens Album?
The Arctic Monkeys, Schubert, 16th Century stuff, anything
really ( apart from Phil Collins of course), even Jessic'a Ghost, Moxy's Band!?
What other Sports played?
Riff Raff tennis, which is a slow-mo version of The
Wimbledon style of game, but rigorously competitive. I made my cricket debut for NCC two weeks ago!
Best advice given to you?
From Eddie Byrnes; collect the subs before the game!
What next for NSWHC?
Onwards and upwards, for all the teams!
Who would you have on your side who is
a present member of NSWHC in a full kicking scrapping fight and why?
Jack Phillips, particularly when he's a year or two older
and a bit larger!
Your ideal weekend?
A gig with The Nissens on the Friday night; a win against
Oxton on the Saturday afternoon; Riff Raff AGM on the Saturday night and a recovery all day Sunday!!
Thank you David, have a great summer!
