Match Reports 2007/08
NSW 6's 6-3 NSW 5's 13 October 2007
The game was quickly put togeather after Bramhall were unable to raise a side and the Mens 5's had a weekend off.
Yes it was 9 v 11, in the 6's favour but we had been there before and failed, so this was a great oppotunity to get some team
spirit and work on a few things.
The first 10 minutes was all 5th team pressure and the 6th were lucky to get away with holding them off, but Andy Knight
got the scoring underway with a well taken strike. The 6th team rallied and got some good moves going, with Paul Rutter
orchestrating the forwards into some triangular passing, great to watch. Nothing came until the last seconds of the
first half, Paul Rutter laid the ball off to Arthur Bush who hit it at Kevin Smith in goal for the 5th team, he kicked the
ball back at Arthur who controlled it and hit into the backboard, 1-1 and half time.
The second half had a change of personnel, Kevin Smith had to umpire the Ladies at Neston so Bruce Lindsey made his debut
for NSW. As a consequence his son Josh went up front, to try and score, with his Dad in goal. The first couple
of attacks had Bruce kick the ball away very successfully. Chris Hall had a reverse goal, then Andy Knight got a couple
back to get his hatrick, Arthur scored two more and Josh finally got two at the end through his Fathers legs.
Final score 6-3, great game good spirit and lets hope we can go on to win when it matters.
Many thanks to the Umpires who gave up their day, they had been injured so were unable to play themselves, Dan Power
(broken finger), Sally Bush (stiff neck) and Harry Bush (Dislocated shoulder).
